Experiential-based foundational pharmacy residency programs: a narrative review
Abstract
An advancing pharmacy profession requires well-trained pharmacists with skills beyond those required for sound clinical decision-making and safe medication supply To meet the growing needs of both the local and international health sectors, pharmacists are expected to take on more complex services and clinically orientated roles including research, education, and providing evidence-based interventions.Pharmacists are also taking on leadership roles within other sectors, such as public health.4 As such, there is a need to carefully monitor and understand the ways in which training programs are facilitating skill and competency development to support these increasing demands.
